The Bremont Wright Flyer Limited Edition

It is not often that I come across a watch that fills me with a feeling of awe. The truth is, I’ve come across many aviation inspired watches and mostly they are quite similar, and then there is the Bremont Wright Flyer, which is by far the most fantastic creation (that I’ve seen) hailing from this English watch manufacturer.

The Bremont Wright Flyer comes in three versions: a stainless steel edition that features a black dial and is fitted on a black alligator leather strap, an 18kt rose gold edition with a white dial and a brown alligator leather strap, and an 18kt white gold version also carrying a white dial and a brown alligator leather strap.

These models are limited to 300, 100, and 50 pieces for the stainless steel, rose gold, and white gold editions respectively. One nuance that I noticed is that there is white contrast stitching on the leather straps on the white and rose gold models but not on the black strap for the stainless steel edition. I am not sure that means anything but it did stand out to me.

Bremont fashioned the cases using their famous TripTick® case construction and an integrated decoration ring. All models carry case diameters of 43mm and case heights of 14mm (inclusive of the crystal). The main crown is prominent as in the style of many aviation themed watches.

The case back is exhibition styled evincing the self-winding mechanical movement Caliber BWC01, which has been meticulously crafted in Bremont’s workshop in Henley-on-Thames. This movement has autonomy of 50+ hours and beats at a consistent 28,800 VpH. The rotor is shaped along its horizontal axis like a propeller but more specifically like the propeller used by the Wright brothers for the 1903 Wright Flyer. Also on the rotor is a small piece of the Muslin used on this pioneering aircraft.

The dial features a small seconds register at the 9 position and large hands and Arabic numeral hour markers. The hands and hour markers are all coated with lume for the exceptional legibility of the time at night of under low light conditions.

The Bremont Wright Flyer is not only an aviation themed timepiece but is one that embodies the concept of reaching new heights.
