The Girard Perregaux 1945 Vintage Large Date Moon Phases

Girard Perregaux is one of the world’s best known Swiss luxury watchmakers. With their slogan – the mechanics of time since 1791, they have crafted some pretty extraordinary timepieces from their La-Chaux-de-Fonds based workshops in Switzerland. Late last year, they announced the release of a new Girard Perregaux 1945 Vintage Large Date Moon Phases. This new addition to the 1945 Vintage collection is quite similar to some previous iterations, except for one glaring feature – the smokey grey transparent sapphire crystal dial.

The rectangular case on this watch measures in at 35.25mm X 36.10mm. The case chamfers around the wrist for a truly enjoyable wearing experience. With its 11.74mm thickness, the case is also relatively thin. The watch is offered in two different case material options – polished stainless steel, or 18k rose gold. The caseback sports an exhibition styled sapphire crystal, showcasing the movement. On the case middle is a corrector used to adjust the moon phase complication. The strap on both variants is made of black alligator and features a single folding clasp made from metal complementing the case. The Girard Perregaux 1945 Vintage Large Date Moon Phases is carries a 30 meters water resistance rating.

The sapphire crystal dial of the Girard Perreguax 1945 Vintage is very attractive ensuring the complete transparency of the movement from the dial side. The dial features a large double date indicator at 12 o’clock. At the 6position is the moon phase aperture, with a continuous seconds hand sharing that space. The Dauphine hands and the polished hour markers stand out nicely, ensuring legibilty. To increase the readability, the hands and markers are toned with case matching colors in the two variants of the model.

This model is equipped with a Girard Perregaux caliber GP03300-0105 automatic movement. This movement allows for the large jumping date to be corrected through the main crown. The balance wheel alternates at a sound 28,800 vibrations per hour. The power reserve on this model is set a standard 46 hours.
