The Louis Moinet Russian Eagle Tourbillon Limited Edition

Louis Moinet pushes the envelope yet again with this spectacular timepiece called the Russian Eagle. The watch gets its name from the large Russian Eagle motif emblazoned on the dial. The eagle motif is crafted from 18kt white gold and, according to Jean-Marie Schaller, this aspect of the watch takes no less than 50 hours to create. The Russian Eagle emblem, which was the official coat of arms of the Russian Federation is superimposed on a beautiful blue dial with a Côtes du Jura guilloche design.

At the 6 position on the dial sits the king of complications – the tourbillon. This tourbillon is special as it incorporates a unique escapement to Louis Moinet. At the 8 position is the brand’s name “Louis Moinet”. The hands used are blued steel and shaped in dew drops with lume for visibility at night.

The case is made exclusively from 18kt white gold and is fitted on a luxurious blue alligator leather strap. The strap is secured with a folding clasp made from 18kt white gold and black titanium for strength and durability. The case uses both polished and brushed finishes for a sophisticated aesthetic on this watch. The main crown is ridged for easy manipulation of the time and the setting of the watch. The case is comprised of 59 parts and comes in with a 47mm case diameter. The Louis Moinet Russian Eagle features two glare proofed sapphire crystals – one covering the dial, and the other on the case back revealing the movement. This model carries a 30 meter water resistance.

The movement is manual or hand wound with an autonomy of 72 hours. This mechanism features an octopus spring, which is responsible for setting and winding this timepiece. The balance spring oscillates at a rate of 21,600 alternations per hour. The movement is also decorated with Côtes du Jura engraving. The Louis Moinet Russian Eagle Tourbillon was unveiled at the JCK Exhibition earlier this year and will be sold in a very limited series of 28 pieces at select locations across the world.
