Tudor’s Clair De Rose Is Breathtaking

‘A rose by any other name is still a rose.’ Many words spring to mind when trying to describe the Claire de Rose from Tudor. Intriguing, sophisticated, well ahead of its time, are but a few. Tudor has once again shown the world that when it comes to design and the execution of said design, nobody does it like this brand.

The Claire de Rose features a cut out a Tudor rose as the central seconds indicator. The rose makes one revolution every minute. In keeping with the rose theme, Tudor sets another rose in a domed crystal set into the main crown. The rose is special to Tudor as this was the brand’s logo during the 50’s. The main crown is screwed down and comes with ridges for greater dexterity when screwing the crown or adjusting the time. The screwed main crown is used to maintain the 100 meter (330 feet) water resistance of the watch. The case is crafted from stainless steel or can come in a rose gold bimetal version. This fabulous timepiece holds dimensions of 26mm for the diameter which is perfect for most women’s wrists.

The Claire de Rose is driven by a mechanical self-winding movement with a power reserve of 38 hours. Like most quality movements, this one oscillates at 28,800 VpH ensuring that this watch is not only aesthetically pleasing but also highly accurate.

The dial comes in two versions – blue or pink mother of pearl for a totally feminine appeal. Tudor uses diamond hour markers adding pure sophistication to this already superb timepiece. At the 3 o’clock position is a date aperture completing the dial. The hands are black steel skeletonized dauphine shaped. Protecting against scratches is a domed sapphire crystal. Securing this watch is your choice of either a stainless bracelet, steel and 18kt rose gold finishings, or a satin strap with ardillon buckle.
