The Amazing Hysek Phenomeno

Hysek is, and will always be, a brand that pushes the limits on watchmaking. Hysek was born in 1997 with the release of the Kilada watch which set the tone for the brand’s minimalist style. By 2003, Hysek had established itself as a serious watchmaker with the presentation of the Kilada X Ray tourbillon limited to 30 pieces. In 2012, Hysek released the Phenomeno which takes its inspiration from bridges and has firmly linked the brand to the realm of the Avant Garde and truly daring.

The Phenomeno gently curves its case which gives into a tough looking rubber strap. The rubber strap adds to the richness of this timepiece and gives it a very sporty appearance. The case is made from black PVD stainless steel and 18kt rose gold. The case measures in at 42mm across (diameter), and sits relatively flat on the wrist with a 12mm case height.

The rose gold occupies only the bezel at 12 and 6 on this piece. The main crown is screwed down. This feature maintains the 50 meter water resistance that the Phenomeno is equipped with. The bezel also holds the sapphire crystal which protects the dial window. Sapphire is the crystal of choice for Hysek due to its specific scratch resistant properties. Powering this watch is a mechanical self-winding movement which beats at 28,800 VpH.

The dial on the Phenomeno is jet black and features Arabic numerals as the hour markers. The numerals 1, 5, 7, and 11 are rose gold toned, while the other numerals of 2, 4, 8, and 10 are printed in a white outline on the black dial. The 3 and 9 positions are occupied by dot indexes in rose gold tone.

At the 12 position is a large double date window, whereas at 6 is a subdial indicating the power reserve. This watch carries a power reserve of a minimum of 42 hours. The Hysek Phenomeno also features rose gold toned hours and minute hands, and a central seconds hand in red.
