The Piaget Limelight Blooming Rose

The Limelight Collection from Piaget has been the defining series of ladies’ watches of the last 7 years since its debut in 2007. For SIHH 2014, Piaget unveiled the Limelight Blooming Rose, which has simply taken the watchmaking world by storm.

For those closely following the brand, it should come as no surprise that the theme of the rose was chosen for this year’s iteration of the Limelight collection as Piaget had been marketing 2014 as the year of the Rose – or rather the Yves Piaget rose, to be precise. Yves Piaget is credited for revolutionizing the brand back in the 1960’s by making the firm decision to only produce ladies’ watches in precious metals.

The amazing feature on the Blooming Rose is its ability to transform by twisting the case, producing a rose in full bloom. The case swivels by 45° changing the 4-petaled rose to an 8-petaled rose, giving the wearer the versatility to transition from daily wear to evening wear by just one twist. This mechanism is indeed a work of genius – a trade secret that Piaget will keep close

The Piaget Blooming Rose comes in two versions – an 18kt white gold on black satin strap, and an 18kt pink gold on white satin strap. Both editions feature 269 round brilliant white diamonds totaling 2.50 carats on both the case and the pin buckle that secures the satin strap.

The dial comes in either black or white lacquer depending on the case material. The dial is minimalist without hour makers and the ‘Piaget’ logo at the 12 position. The hands are rhodium toned on the white gold version, and pink gold toned on the rose gold edition. Powering this model is the Caliber 56P Swiss made quartz movement. The price on the Piaget Limelight Blooming Rose is £34,200.
