The New Technomarine UF6 Chronograph Grand Date

Technomarine launches a new collection for 2014 – the UF6 Chronograph Grand Date. This collection originally came in three distinct versions: a stainless steel edition called the Mercury, a blue PVD steel version named the Deep Blue, and the brown PVD version known as the Riva. The Mercury was polished as a tribute to speedboats and other fast seafaring vessels, while the Deep Blue was made to represent the open ocean, and lastly the Riva in brown as homage to the special wood used in the production of yachts and other pleasure craft. This year the UF6 Chronograph Grand Date new releases from Technomarine is quite impressive with some new versions.

As with many watches from the Technomarine lineup, these watches carry large dimensions of 45mm. The fixed bezel is made from rose gold PVD steel on this new model and houses a scratch resistant sapphire crystal, glare proofed on both sides. The case middle carries a wave pattern emphasizing the affinity between this watch and the ocean. The ridged main crown is screw locked to enable the water resistance of 200 meters or 660 feet. These models feature a lovely thick black rubber strap with tang type clasp also made from rose gold PVD steel made to match the case.

The dial is rose gold toned with a very straightforward layout of the two subdials. The counter at 3 o’clock displays the continuous seconds, while the register at 9 integrates the chrono minutes and the chrono hours so that when reading the chronograph the information can be viewed as if looking at a clock. The chronograph seconds are indicated using a central hand. Visibility of the dial is enhanced by the partially skeletonized hands. The hands are also coated with lume for the effortless reading of the time at night or under low light conditions. At the 6 position is a large, highly legible double date display. The Technomarine UF6 Chronograph Grand Date is driven by an accurate quartz movement made completely in Switzerland.
