The Manufacture Contemporaine du Temps Sequential Two

The Manufacture Contemporaine du Temps Sequential Two was released this year at Baselworld. Manufacture Comtemporaine du Temps or MCT has been producing extremely high end timepieces that use unique display systems like the prism display that is found in the Sequential Two. For those who follow the brand closely, you would know that this isn’t the first prism display used but it is the first to be featured in a round case. As a watchmaker, MCT has been growing and now creates each new design from concept to casing.

The Sequential Two is offered in two versions – 18kt white gold, and 18kt red gold. The case is comprised of 43 parts and measures in at 44.6mm for the diameter and 14.5mm for the case height. As with many MCT watches, the Sequential Two carries a sapphire ring around the bezel. This timepiece is outfitted with a black alligator leather strap on both versions. The leather strap is hand stitched twice over and it is secured with a double deployant clasp made from 18kt gold and titanium. Water resistance on the Sequential Two stands at 30 meters.

The dial is open worked, revealing glimpses of the movement inside. Perhaps the first thing you’ll notice on this watch is the 4 large modules of prisms at the 3, 6, 9, and 12 positions. The prisms, themselves turn to change the numeral shown and the ‘C’ shaped indicator also sequentially shifts in 90° arcs to highlight the current hour. The minutes are indicated through a central hand. Over the dial is a sapphire crystal, which has been glare proofed on both sides.

On the case back is another sapphire crystal, which slows for the admiration of the decorated movement. The movement is self-winding caliber MCT-S2, which carries an autonomy of 40 hours and vibrates at 18,000 VpH. Distinguishing this movement from many others out there is a micro-rotor made from 18kt red gold. The Manufacture Contemporaine du Temps Sequential Two is backed by a two year MCT warranty.
