The Breitling Transocean Chronograph Unitime

The Breitling Transocean Chronograph Unitime steps off of the beaten path and introduces a truly dressy timepiece – a worldtimer no less. It is still a Breitling, so it should be no surprise that this model features a hefty case diameter of 46mm. Despite its large circumference, the Transocean Chronograph Unitime only offers a case height of 15.6mm. This may sound thick, but in fact it’s pretty good for a chronograph in one of Breitling’s solid, monobloc cases. The model comes in either stainless steel or 18kt red gold and can be found in a couple different dial color options, namely black or white.

The case is polished, and like most other Breitlings can be purchased with a few different strap options. If you’re going the stainless steel bracelet route, however, you’ll have to go with the Ocean Classic. This bracelet has not always gotten my seal of approval but it does look smashing with the dressy aesthetic of this new Transocean watch. This bracelet was used prolifically by Breitling back in the 1950’s where it was fitted on many of their diving models. Apart from the Navitimer collection, this is the only other watch in Breitling’s inventory to not feature a screw locked crown. However, with the screwed in case back, this timepiece still offers a water resistance of 100 meters (10 Bars).

The Breitling Transocean Chronograph Unitime uses two independently rotating disks to set the time across the globe. These disks are controlled by the main crown. At the center, is a depiction of the globe with lines of longitude and latitude. The chronograph can time events of up to 12 hours and also carries readouts of the elapsed minutes and seconds. At the 9 position is the continuous seconds, while at the 4:30 position is the date aperture. Protecting the dial is a scratch resistant sapphire crystal, glare proofed on either side.

Powering this amazing worldtimer is the exclusive self-winding caliber B05. This movement is made entirely in Breitling’s workshops in Switzerland. The movement inside the Transocean Chronograph Unitime carries an autonomy of 70 hours and alternates at 28,800 VpH. One of the major benefits of having the in house movement is the warranty, which lasts for 5 years from the date of purchase. Last but certainly not least, the Caliber B05 is a COSC certified Chronometer.
