The Panerai Luminor Submersible 1950 3 Days Automatic Titanio 47mm

The Panerai Luminor Submersible 1950 3 Days Automatic Titanio 47mm is another release from Panerai, which has taken much of its form and functionality from a model that the brand was producing in the past. This time the model comes from 1956 – only 11 years after the end of the Second World War. Originally, this model was produced for the Egyptian Navy.

This timepiece is made in titanium, which is a much stronger and lighter material than steel. This model measures in with an oversized dimension for the diameter – 47mm. As a member of the Submersible family, this watch features a large unidirectional bezel.

This bezel, unlike many others, doesn’t use a 120 click ratchet system. Instead, the Submersible 1950 3 Days carries a 60 click ratchet system, making the bezel easier and faster to manipulate under water. At the 12 position on the bezel is a luminous pearl, which is vital for discerning elapsed time during dives.

As with all Panerai watches, there is a device which protects the crown from moisture entering the watch. In fact, this model is water resistant to 300 meters (30 bars). Securing the watch to the wrist is a thick black rubber strap and a classic pin buckle. This watch comes with a second interchangeable strap and a steel screwdriver to facilitate the change.

Over the dial is a sapphire crystal, which is one of the thickest on the market today with a height of 4mm. Sapphire crystal is chosen by Panerai, due to its scratch resistant properties, thus ensuring the aesthetics of the watch are maintained. The black dial features luminous indexes and Arabic numeral hour markers. The date aperture is located at the 3 position, while directly opposite at the 9 position is a small seconds counter.

The movement powering this watch is automatic and is made entirely in-house. There is another sapphire crystal on the case back which reveals the decorated P.9000 movement. The Glucydur® balance wheel alternates at a constant 28,800 VpH, and the watch features a 3 day power reserve attained by using twin barrels. Protecting against impacts is an Incabloc® shock resistant system. The Panerai Luminor Submersible 1950 3 Days Automatic Titanio 47mm is backed by a two year manufacturer’s guarantee.
