Novak Djokovic Sports the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Day & Date

Serbian born tennis star Novak Djokovic likes the finer things in life, and you don’t get much finer than the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Day & Date. In 2011, Djokovic signed on with Audemars Piguet to be one of their ambassadors of sport joining the likes of noted figures such as Michael Schumacher, LeBron James, and cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar. The Royal Oak was first designed by Gerald Genta in 1972 and was the first ever luxury sports watch made in stainless steel.

This sublime timepiece from horological juggernauts Audemars Piguet comes in a refined size of 39mm for the case diameter. The Royal Oak Day & Date is offered in two versions – stainless steel, and 18kt pink gold on brown alligator leather. Novak Djokovic favors the stainless steel option as it is a more hard wearing than the gold option.

The bezel is the iconic octagonal style that characterizes the Royal Oak and the Royal Oak Offshore families. The screw locked crown maintains the water resistance of this watch to 50 meters, making this model a good choice for daily wear. The Day & Date model is fitted with a stainless steel bracelet, and is fastened with the well-designed AP folding clasp.

The dial is black with a guilloche design is a ‘Grande Tapisserie’ motif. The day and date counters can be found at the nine and three positions respectively in a Bi-Compax dial layout. The hour markers are rendered as indexes, with the exception of the twelve position, which is marked by this manufacturers logo. This model features a scratch resistant sapphire crystal, which also protects the dial from dust and moisture.

AP uses the caliber 2325/2810 self-winding mechanical movement to power the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Day & Date. This movement features an oscillating rotor decorated with a Côtes de Genève. The 2325/2810 movement carries a power reserve of 40 hours and beats at 28,800 VpH. The Royal Oak Day & Date carries a warranty valid  for two years from the date of purchase.
