Justine Henin and her Rolex Yachtmaster

It is only fitting that a sports icon like Justine Henin wears and is endorsed by the most iconic watchmaker of our time. This noted tennis player wears the Rolex Yachtmaster – A truly flawless timepiece made from Rolesium, which is a combination 904L stainless steel and 950 platinum.

904L stainless steel is one of the world’s most expensive versions of low carbon stainless steel due to the rare trace minerals that dramatically increase its anti-corrosion index. 950 platinum is an alloy which contains 95% pure platinum and 5% other metals, which makes this alloy exceptionally strong and durable, not to mention hypoallergenic. Together these two materials combine to produce a unique blend of strength, durability and anti-corrosiveness.

Justine Henin favors the midsized 35mm version, but this model is also offered in case sizes in 27mm and a gent’s version with a 42mm case diameter. This timepiece features the tough, water resistant Oyster case, which is made using a monobloc case construction with a screw down case back and screw locked winding crown.

As the name Yachtmaster might suggest, this watch is primarily designed for use diving or out on the open seas. In this vein, Rolex uses a bidirectional rotational bezel with raised Arabic numerals and markers coated in platinum. The bracelet used on this model is made only from 904L stainless steel, and it fastens with a folding Oysterlock safety clasp. Rolex Yachtmaster is water resistant to 100 meters or 10 ATM’s.

Protecting the brushed platinum dial is a scratch resistant sapphire crystal that has been glare proofed on both sides. As with so many other Rolex family’s, there is the famous Cyclops lens, magnifying the date function at three o’clock some two and a half times. The hands and the raised hour markers are satin finished and are coated with lume for optimal readability at night. The sweeping seconds hand is colored red so that it not only looks aesthetically pleasing, but stands out against the brushed dial.

Powering this exceptional Rolex timepiece is a self-winding mechanical movement caliber 2235, which is completely designed and assembled by Rolex. This movement carries a stop seconds function for precise time setting. The oscillating weight rotates and winds the main spring from both directions making for a constant energy supply to the watch. The Rolex Yachtmaster is officially certified a chronometer by the COSC. COSC certified chronometers only account to 5% of Swiss made watches, making this Rolex watch one of the elite timepieces in the world.
