Chopard’s Collaboration With Zagato For The Mille Miglia Zagato Limited Edition

Luxury watchmaker Chopard has teamed up with luxury automotive designer Zagato to produce a limited edition timepiece in none other than the Mille Miglia collection. Both companies are seen to be masters in their individual crafts and so a collaboration was always a possibility. Chopard is responsible for the form and movement of the watch, while the team at Zagato were responsible for the intricate finishes. The Chopard Mille Miglia Zagato is limited in its production to only 500 pieces worldwide.

The case of the watch is made from stainless steel which is treated with DLC (Diamond Like Carbon). The DLC serves to give the case a blackened appearance, making this watch quite sporty in its aesthetics. The case carries dimensions of 42.4mm for the diameter and rides high on the wrist with a 14.87mm case thickness. The case back is solid and features the official Mille Miglia logo in relief, and the inscription “Special Zagato Edition”. The bezel is engraved with a graduated 24 hour scale, which is used as a counter for the GMT function. Adorning this watch is a black calfskin leather strap, with a hollowed out center and red contrast stitching, which is a style commonly seen in many luxury vehicles customized by Zagato.

The dial is white and printed with the letter Z. at the 3 o’clock position, resides the name of this esteemed Swiss watchmaker, the official Mille Miglia logo in red, and a neat date aperture. Around the flange is a graduated tachometric scale, which when used with the chronograph indicates average speed over a given distance. On this watch, the chronograph subdials at the 12 and 6 are quite large for enhanced visibility. At the 9 position, there is a small seconds counter with the 60 marker in red. All of the timekeeping elements, save for the chronograph seconds hand, are rhodium toned and have been coated with luminescence.

This timepiece is powered by a self-winding chronograph movement, which is certified a chronometer by the COSC. Naturally for a watch of this caliber, sapphire crystal is used for the dial window. The Chopard Mille Miglia Zagato Chronograph Limited Edition is water resistant to 50 meters.
