Audemars Piguet LeBron James Limited

There are only a handful of brands that can even come close to the technical mastery and design superiority of Audemars Piguet. The brand is one of the few in Swiss watchmaking that can boast that they are an independent i.e not owned by a larger luxury group like LVMH, Swatch, or Richemont. There are fewer brands still that can say that they are still owned by the founding families. With all this in mind, it is an understatement just to call this brand great.

The brand has chosen to honor one of the true greats in basketball – LeBron James with his very own limited edition Royal Oak Offshore. This timepiece is limited to 600 pieces worldwide. The watch is sculpted from 18kt pink gold finely brushed and a titanium bezel with eight screws highlighting the world famous octagonal bezel. Even the screws are fitted in with perfection and offer straight lines observing the shape of the case.

The case diameter is 44mm excluding the main crown and chronograph pushers. The main crown and pushers are crafted from black ceramic and are protected by pink gold and grey rubber. The chronograph pusher at 2 o’clock is studded with diamonds.

The case back is transparent revealing the in house Caliber 3126/3840 which is decorated with inverted snailing. The sapphire crystal on the case back is also engraved with the LBJ signature and the inscription ‘Royal Oak Offshore Limited Edition LeBron James’.

The self-winding in house movement vibrates at 3Hz (21,600vph) and offers a 55 hour power reserve. The oscillating rotor operates with ceramic ball bearings and is capable of winding the watch while spinning in either direction.

The dial is grey and is guilloche designed by hand in the iconic ‘Mega Tapisserie’ motif. The chronograph counters are grey while the hour markers are applied pink gold Arabic numerals. The date aperture can be found at the 3 o’clock position. The hands are also made from pink gold and offer a luminous coating for visibility at night.

The bracelet is made from grey large square scale crocodile leather which has been hand stitched. A grey rubber strap is also included with the LeBron James limited edition Royal Oak Offshore. This watch is water resistant to 100 meters. Retail price of this watch is USD $51,500.
