The New Calibre de Cartier Diver SIHH 2014

Cartier has announced the release of another addition to their flagship collection – the Calibre de Cartier Diver. This model is set for display at the SIHH 2014, which kicks off later this month. As with the other models in the Calibre de Cartier series, this model is fitted with an in house movement  – the 1904-PS MC, which is mechanical self-winding. The 1904 moniker honors the year that the very first wristwatch made by Cartier was produced. The movement carries a power reserve of 48 hours. This is a serious diving watch, complying with ISO 6425 standards.

The Cartier Calibre Diver is a great option for many who love the brand but are looking for a luxury watch with a sporty edge. The watch still retains the original size of 42mm found on the very first model in the Calibre line. The steel bezel features a DLC coating and is unidirectional with a 120-click motion for each revolution. Unidirectional bezels are used primarily to measure elapsed time while diving. The watch also features a faceted screwed down crown set with a faceted blue spinel.

This attractive timepiece is water resistant to 300 meters (1000 feet). These new additions come in both stainless steel or 18kt rose gold, and feature strap options of textured rubber or stainless steel. The rubber straps are fitted with a folding clasp, while the steel bracelets come with a triple deployant buckle.

The dial carries all of the elements of the Calibre line from the small seconds at 6 to the large retrograde cut out date aperture at the 3 position. The sword shaped hands are coated with Super-LumiNova, which give great luminescence during low light conditions. The black dial also features oversized Roman numerals and indexes making up the hour markers. The Cartier Calibre Diver carries a sapphire crystal which protects the dial from dust, and moisture.
