The New Breitling Super Avenger Military Limited Edition

The Breitling Super Avenger Military is one of Breitling’s newer limited edition watches. The brand, which was founded by Leon Breitling in 1884, has been a tremendous force in modern watchmaking. Breitling has proven their mettle with innovation after innovation and their almost obsessive desire to create highly detail oriented timepieces. This Breitling model has a rare 24 hour dial layout and is limited in production to just 500 pieces worldwide. In actual fact, most Breitling limited edition series number to 1000 pieces or more, so this represents a very rare watch indeed.

This rugged timepiece is made from Breitling’s Black Steel (a form of DLC stainless steel). The case measures in at an oversized 48mm. The case is also quite thick, matching the large dimensions of the diameter, at 17.75mm. The watch is hefty as the case without a bracelet weighs a solid 150 grams. The crown is screw locked and carries two gaskets, which maintains the water resistance of 300 meters (1000 feet). The bezel is unidirectional for the calculation of elapsed time. The bezel also holds securely a scratch resistant sapphire crystal, which has been glare proofed on both sides to ensure visibility of the dial during different light conditions.

The black dial features stenciled Arabic numerals hour markers, which add a very sporty feel to this timepiece. The chronograph on the Super Avenger Military can time events with durations of up to 12 hours. The chronograph also offers breakdowns of minutes and ¼ of a second. There is a continuous seconds register at the 3 position. The hands are generously coated with Super-LumiNova for nighttime readability. The classy 24 hour dial underscores the military theme of the watch. At the 4:30 position is a neat aperture.

Driving this amazing watch is the self-winding caliber Breitling 13, which has been officially certified by the COSC as a chronometer. The automatic movement features 25 jewels and a minimum of 42 hours of power reserve. Completing the watch is a durable Military strap fitted with a tang type buckle made from black steel.
