The Mido Multifort Chronograph Caliber 60

Mido released the Multifort Chronograph Caliber 60 earlier this year. The most amazing thing about the Multifort collection is that it has been in production for about 80 years now. This makes it the longest running production series in Swiss watchmaking history bar none. The Multifort series draws its inspiration from the Sydney Harbor Bridge with its clean lines and innovative design.

The watch is designed as a diving watch with its all stainless steel case and bracelet. The case and bracelet feature both brushed and polished finishes and features 2 crowns and 3 pushers. The main crown is located at the 3 position, while another crown is found at 8 o’clock position to control the rotating flange. The pushpieces at the 2 and 4 positions operate the chronograph functions, while the pusher at 10 is used for quick date adjustment. The chrono pushers are differentiated by their orange rings. Each of the pushers and crowns are all screw locked ensuring there is no unintentional operation of the functions. The bracelet is secured with a deployant clasp and features a diving extension. This model carries dimensions of 44mm for the diameter. Water resistance stands at 200 meters or 660 feet on the Multifort Chronograph Caliber 60 thanks to the screw locked case back.

The movement can be seen through the exhibition case back made from sapphire crystal. The self-winding mechanical movement Caliber 60 is actually a personalized ETA AO5H31. The movement features 28,800 VpH aand 27 jewels. The Multifort Chronograph Caliber 60 is shock resistant due to a NIVACHOC A3 shock absorption system. The power reserve comes in at 60 hours for this watch. The oscillating weight is decorated with vertical Geneva stripes and an engraved Mido logo. To ensure accuracy, this watch is adjusted at 3 positions.

The dial is anthracite colored with vertical Côtes de Genève markings. The rotating flange carries orange marking between the 12 and 3 positions. The hands and markers are luminous for optimum readability of the time at night. At the 9 position is the continuous seconds, while at the 3 position is a subdial displaying the chronograph minutes. Completing the dial is a date display window at 6 o’clock. Covering the dial is a scratch resistant sapphire crystal, which has been glare proofed on both sides.
