The L’Duchen Supernova Perseides

L’Duchen has clearly stepped up its game with the release of the Supernova collection. My personal favorite is the Perseides named after anyone born under the House of Perseus in Greek mythology. With the collection being called Supernova, I was expecting a timepiece with not only astronomical complications but with a level of design that could be described as heavenly – L’Duchen didn’t disappoint in either aspect.

The watch is crafted from 316L (the L stands for Low Carbon) polished stainless steel. The Perseides is a large ladies’ watch with a case diameter of 38mm. Along the thin bezel is a single row of full cut diamonds. Though it isn’t specified I would expect nothing less than VS clarity and Top Wesselton color, which corresponds to the F-G color range on the GIA scale.  The Perseides comes on a white alligator leather strap secured by a single folding clasp. The water resistance on this model is 5 ATM (50 meters).

The dial on this chic watch is lacquered with white mother of pearl. The dial features 11 more diamonds of varying sizes for the hour markers and the brand name “L’Duchen” at the 12 position. There are two more features on the dial that carry the depiction of tails trailing behind them in a semi-elliptical path, reminiscent of comets. The larger of the two ends in a circular date aperture.

Towards the central dial and spanning from the 9 to the 1:30 position is a moon phase aperture running on a 29 ½ day scale. Indicating the time is a pair of rhodium toned, sword shaped hands. The seconds hand is needle shaped. All of the dial elements come together seamlessly to create a truly unique and pristine timepiece.

Powering the L’Duchen Supernova Perseides is an accurate and precise quartz mechanism. This timepiece, and by extension the collection, is the best I’ve come across by L’Duchen.
