The i-Gucci Raises Some i-Brows With Its Functionality

The house of Gucci was born in 1906 in Florence, Italy. Gucci started off as a saddle shop owned and run by Guccio Gucci. Guccio ran a very successful business selling leather goods expanding his company to the far reaches of the world. Guccio was well known as an expert craftsman and after his death Aldo, his son, took over the business and started to produce watches under the name.

The first watches were sold at the boutique in New York in 1953. Since then, the company has produced many designs that are as unique and iconic as every other work of art that leaves the manufacturer.

The i-Gucci watch is sporty by nature and is a technologically superb piece. The dial is deceptively simple and carries both a digital and a digitized ‘analog’ feature. The home screen carries two independent time zones and the seconds and date display are interchangeable. Naturally, there is the option to switch from a 12 to a 24 hour format. Gucci uses the circular space well with this digital watch and makes the first 2 digits larger taking up more room.

The major features of this watch include a Regatta timer (basically a 5 minute countdown timer), two chronographs, yet another countdown timer, a digital tachymeter, an alarm, and even a pedometer. The i-Gucci does come equipped with a backlight as well.

The case comes in two sizes – 44mm and 49mm. These watches don’t look large on the wrist as the bezel slopes and there aren’t any lugs to speak of. i-Gucci watches come in a range of strap styles but they all end with a double push button release deployant clasp.

These timepieces are water resistant to a depth of 50 meters (165 feet), therefore allowing only light swimming. This model is retailing worldwide for $1550.00.
