The Breitling S3 ZeroG Chronograph

Who would have ever thought that a luxury watch would be used as a boarding pass? The answer is quite simply Swiss Space Systems (S3) and Breitling. The duo has collaborated to launch project ZeroG, which is set to start in 2015. Project ZeroG is proclaiming that it will be the most affordable means to experience zero gravity through weightless flights. To honor this landmark (or spacemark), Breitling has created a timepiece that will also double as a boarding pass. As such the watch will not be available for purchase at retailers. The only way to get this watch is to take a flight in 2015 on the S3 ZeroG project. Not a bad deal at all I would say.

Though these watches are being used as boarding passes, the watches will not be kept by the passengers on this flight, unless they are flying either Premium or VIP. For these lucky patrons, they’ll get to leave the flight with a memento of this once in a lifetime experience. Expected price for the Party Zone is €2,000, while the Premium Zone will retail for €5,000 but they get to keep the watch afterwards. Patrons in the Party Zone will have the opportunity to purchase the timepiece once they’ve landed.

The Breitling S3 ZeroG Chronograph comes in DLC titanium and measures 43mm in diameter. The look of the watch and case size reminds me of the Colt Chrono. Apart from the DLC titanium, this model is differentiated by the large ‘S3’ logo at the 8 position. This model features a unidirectional bezel and a sapphire crystal, glare proofed on both sides. The watch is outfitted with a black rubber strap with the S3 logo stamped on both sides. The Breitling S3 ZeroG Chronograph uses a COSC chronometer certified Superquartz movement. This model is water resistant to 100 meters (330 feet).
