The Bentley Denarium 18kt Gold Power Reserve and Tourbillon

The Denarium Collection from Bentley takes much of its inspiration from coins from Ancient Rome, in terms of its form and refined aesthetic. The Denarium line features two models crafted in 18kt yellow gold: a version featuring a power reserve, and another carrying the king of complications – a tourbillon.

Bentley watches were first established in 1948 in La-Chaux-de-Fonds – a town in Switzerland that has been immersed in watchmaking for generations. Bentley Watches has since become the Bentley Luxury Group, now making a range of lifestyle accessories that are geared towards the modern day luxury aficionado. Though this brand is relatively young as compared to some of the industry leaders, Bentley watches have created a style that is all their own.

The Denarium Power Reserve and the Tourbillon version both carry case diameters of 43.5mm. The lug to lug measurement comes in at 47.5mm. Lug-to-lug measurements are useful as they give a more accurate indication of exactly how the watch will fit on the wrist. Lugs are extensions of the case and fit on the topside of the wrist. Also both models are outfitted with black alligator leather straps. The polished 18kt yellow gold cases are fitted with sapphire crystals, which are glare proofed.

The dials are silver and naturally carry Roman numerals in keeping with the theme of the collection. On the tourbillon, the 1 o’clock position is represented by a capital B – a tribute to Bentley watchmaking. The power reserve edition carries retrograde displays at the 5 o’clock and 1:30 positions. These gold toned displays indicate a 120 hour power reserve and the date respectively on the silver guilloche dial. At the 9 position is an aperture rimmed in gold, which shows off the movement decorated with perlage. The hands on both models are Breguet styled for a truly refined aesthetic. The tourbillon variant features an aperture at the 9 position.

Both models are powered by personalized movements provided by TechnoTime S.A. The Bentley Denarium collection was presented at Baselworld 2014.
