The Ball Fireman Storm Chaser Pro

The Storm Chaser Pro from the Fireman collection is one of Ball’s newer models for this year. This timepiece is a clever mixture of dressy and sporty elements. The Ball Fireman Storm Chaser Pro is offered in 3 versions, each differentiated by their dial colors (grey, black, or white). On top of that, Ball also gives the option of either a black perforated calf skin with orange contrast saddle stitching, or a three-piece stainless steel bracelet. Securing the stainless steel bracelet is a standard folding clasp, while the leather strap uses a classic pin buckle clasp.

The case is crafted from stainless steel measuring 42mm in diameter, and riding high on the wrist a total of 15.65mm. The main crown is screw locked, which helps to maintain the 100 meter water resistance. The chronograph pusher at the 2 position features an orange ring, while the pusher at the 4 position, responsible for resetting the chronograph carries a black ring. The rings around the pushers appear to be anodized. The case back on this model is exhibition styled revealing the self-winding automatic movement caliber RR1402.

The black bezel is made from aluminum and it carries a telemetric scale, which can calculate distance based on the difference in time between visual and audial events. Telemeters were used predominantly during the First World War to calculate the approximate distance of enemy fire. However, in this case, it is used to calculate the distance of storms in relation to you. Something all good storm chasers need to know.

The dial features 15 micro gas tubes that glow very brightly for legibility during all conditions. There are 3 gas tubes for the central hands and 12 others for all of the indexes. The chronograph subdials occupy the 6 and 12 positions, with the true seconds counter can be found at the 9 position. Completing this functional timepiece is a day of the week and a date aperture at 3 o’clock.
