New Release: The IWC Ingenieur Chronograph Edition “Lewis Hamilton” and “Nico Rosberg”

Last year, the famous Swiss luxury watch brand IWC Schaffhausen unveiled its completely redesigned Ingenieur collection comprising rugged, sporty watches, with indisputably technical charm. Since 2013, the Ingenieur collection is aligned with IWC’s partnership with the MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula OneTM Team, and it features functional and technologically advanced watches made of innovative materials, such are often used in automotive industry. In this light, almost anyone can identify watches from the current Ingenieur collection, as they all feature ceramic screw heads in the bezel.

Continuing the partnership with the MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula OneTM Team, IWC Schaffhausen, together with its ambassadors FORMULA ONE drivers Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton, presents two special limited edition watches: the Ingenieur Chronograph Edition “Lewis Hamilton” (Ref. IW379602) and the Ingenieur Chronograph Edition “Nico Rosberg” (Ref. IW379603). Each model is limited to 250 pieces worldwide, and it is destined to become one of the most coveted watches among motorsport fanatics and watch aficionados.

This time, IWC has chosen to work on a large 45mm chronograph model, as it stands as the quintessence of sports timing. In addition, the chronograph can be rendered in a diversity of high- tech materials, which are typically used for racing cars. This gives IWC a chance to honor the global partnership in this way as well. The Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton chronographs are crafted in satin-finished titanium and fitted with IWC’s in-house caliber 89361. This mechanical self-winding movement is equipped with the IWC double-pawl winding system, which builds up a power reserve of up to 68 hours. The vertical dial arrangement incorporates hour and minute counters joint in a totalizer at 12 o’clock, a date display with crown-activated rapid advance at 6 o’clock, a stopwatch function with hours, minutes and seconds, and a specialized flyback function for calculating pit-stop times.

Lewis Hamilton’s timepiece comes with a carbon dial, pushers, crown, crown protector and zirconium oxide screw heads. The watch is mounted on a titanium metal bracelet, which makes it one-of-the-kind in the whole IWC collection. Nico Rosberg’s watch features a bright, silver-plated dial highlighted by the yellow seconds hand and yellow hands in the totalizer at 12 o’clock. This vibrant detail symbolizes the neon yellow helmet that Nico Rosberg wears for the last seven years. The watch comes on a black rubber strap with embossed calfskin inlay and grey quilted stitching. The case-backs of both of these special edition models are graced with a medallion of carbon fiber, which is taken from one of the Silver Arrow cars used by MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS. The watches are delivered with a certificate that proves its origin. The backs are sealed with waterproof sapphire crystal decorated with the personal logo of Nico Rosberg or Lewis Hamilton.
