The Movado Cerena

Movado watches are the latest to join the multitude of brands incorporating ceramic into their watches. The name of the watch is the Movado Cerena and it uses white ceramic [ZrO2] and stainless steel or black PVD stainless steel and black ceramic in its case construction.

The benefits of Ceramic as a material for watches are many but most notably include: stronger and lighter than stainless steel, and virtually scratch proof. Ceramic, however, is difficult to work with and requires extreme precision when in the furnace as it does shrink in size by about a third.

The case of the Cerena measures in at 36mm – a strong size for women. Movado offers this watch with a standard ceramic bezel or with a double row of high quality round brilliant diamonds. The main crown is smooth – echoing the general aesthetic. It also features a ceramic coating on the face of the crown.

The curved three link bracelet also carries ceramic along the middle link. The links are small, which allows the bracelet to contour perfectly around the wrist. Securing the bracelet is a deployant clasp with a push button release system.

The dial comes in either white or black to complement the case material and it uses either applied indexes or diamond markers to mark the hours. The hands are rhodium toned dauphine shaped with a slender central seconds hand.

At the 12 position, Movado places its signature dot. Balancing this, is a circular date aperture at the 6 position. The flange features a minute track with circular markers in intervals of 5’s. Protecting the dial is a sapphire crystal, chosen for the Cerena for its scratch resistant properties.

The Movado Cerena is powered by a Swiss made quartz three hand movement. This lady’s timepiece is protected by a two year international guarantee.
