The Louis Moinet 20 Second Tempograph

Last year, Louis Moinet released the 10 Second Tempograph – a revolutionary timepiece, where the seconds were displayed in a 10 second retrograde format. This year, the brand has revisited the concept and updated it giving this new watch an additional 10 seconds on the retrograde dial, thus creating the Louis Moinet 20 Second Tempograph. The extra 10 seconds gives the watch its name but is, by far, not the only change to this exclusive timepiece.

The Louis Moinet 20 Second Tempograph is crafted from 18kt pink gold, which features both polished and brushed finishes. The case is well-sized with a 43.5mm case diameter and a 15.6mm case height. This version of the Tempograph is fitted on a black Louisiana alligator leather strap. Securing the strap on the wrist is a single folding clasp. The bezel, which holds the scratch resistant sapphire crystal in place, carries 5 screws in equal intervals – a trademark of Louis Moinet timepieces. The water resistance stands at 50 meters (5 Bars).

The dial is almost completely open worked with the balance wheel vibrating at 28,800 alternations per hour exposed at the 9 position. At the 4 o’clock position is the subdial displaying the hours and minutes. On that display the hands are blued steel, which contrast really well against the pristine white dial. The hour markers are Roman numerals at the 3, 6, 9 and 12 positions, with the remaining markers rendered as indexes. The 20 Second Tempograph uses another blued steel hand for its display. At 12 is the Fleur-de-Lis emblem of Louis Moinet. On the flange is an intricate design that breaks at 12 for an inscription reading “Louis Moinet”.

This spectacular gent’s watch is powered by an automatic mechanical Swiss made movement. This movement features an autonomy of about 2 days. The Louis Moinet 20 Second Tempograph is limited in its production to just 60 examples.
