Introducing The Longines Heritage Diver

The Longines Heritage Diver is a throwback to a watch that the brand made in the 1970’s. Many of the case elements are almost identical, which is actually a good thing since the original watch was quite handsome.

The case is cushioned shaped, which adds to the watch’s retro sporty look. Like the 1970’s version, the Longines Heritage Diver comes in size of 43mm. Longines offers these models in a chronograph and a three hand version. The case features a screwed in case back, a screw locked crown, and a screwed in bezel, which maintains the water resistance at 300 meters (1000 feet).

The Longines Heritage Diver is outfitted with a thick, textured rubber strap on the chronograph version, and black nylon strap with white contrast saddle stitching for the three hand edition. The case back features a depiction of a diver as an homage to the era that this watch came out. It is no secret that Longines was very prolific in diving watches with their designs standing the test of time as evidenced by the new Heritage Diver.

The dial features a Bi-Compax layout with the small seconds and chrono minutes at the 3 and 9 positions respectively. At 6 is a small date display where another subdial was located in the original model from the 70’s. The rhodium toned hands and hour markers are coated with lume for exceptional readability at night. The distinguishing feature on this watch is the bidirectional internal rotating bezel. This bezel is controlled by another crown located at 10 on the chrono model and 4 on the three hand model. This type of bezel is very safe as it does not interact with the outside world.

The movement powering the Longines Heritage Diver is the self-winding mechanical caliber L651.3 which is the ETA 2894/2. This movement is quite thin allowing the watch to fit snugly on the wrist for a great fit. Both models of the Longines Heritage Diver will be on sale at select retailers across the world later this year.
