The Linde Werdelin Oktopus Moonlite

This year, Linde Werdelin released the Oktopus Moonlite at Baselworld. What is exceptional about the Linde Werdelin Oktopus Moonlite is its case material, which is made from ALW, which stands for Alloy Linde Werdelin. This alloy constitutes both the inner and outer cases and is transparent. Among its notable properties is the fact that it is twice as hard as stainless steel and only half the weight of titanium. The Linde Werdelin Oktopus Moonlite is, thus, the lightest watch ever created by this manufacturer weighing just 62.5 grams.

The unique case features three distinct types of finishing – satin, polished, and microbille. The is made in dimensions of 44mm across, and 46mm lug-to-lug, with a 15mm case height. The ridged main crown is made from Grade II titanium with satin and microbille finishing. Also on the crown is an engraved Oktopus emblem. Fitted on this timepiece is a high end white rubber strap, which is interchangeable to other straps from Linde Werdelin’s proprietary strap change system. This model is water resistant to an astounding 300 meters or 1000 meters.

The amazing dial is actually 5 layers each skeletonized incorporating Côtes Circulaires and satin finishing throughout. This model features a moon phase disc with realistic depictions of the different phases of the lunar cycle. The moons along the disc are all luminous, with the full moon revealing an eerie blue luminescence.  The moon is indicated at the 6 position using blue zero. On either side of the zero are red numerals indicating in days how far or close the next phase of the moon is. The hands and Arabic numeral hour markers at the 3, 6, and 9 positions are all luminous for the reading of the time at night. Powering this model is an in house movement made completely in Switzerland.
