Hamilton Khaki Navy Sub Automatic Chronograph Sets Itself Apart

The Hamilton Khaki Navy Sub Automatic Chronograph was launched last year and was based off a model that the brand made back in 1928 called the ‘Piping Rock’. This is one of the sportiest pieces that Hamilton has released in a while. Designed as a diving watch, the Khaki Sub Auto Chrono carries with it such an amazing wrist presence that it can easily be worn as a statement piece.

The Hamilton Khaki Navy Sub comes in two strap versions – an orange rubber, and a black rubber strap. Both versions use a tang type clasp to secure the watch to the wrist. These timepieces are made in satin finished stainless steel and carry a well-sized 43mm case diameter.

Naturally, as a diving watch, the bezel is unidirectional for the measurement of elapsed time when under water. The bezel is also fitted with black rubber trimming along the edges allowing for ease-of-use even when wearing a wetsuit or gloved hands.

The water resistance on this beauty stands at a superb 300 meters or 1000 feet. This level of water resistance is enhanced by the screw locked crown and the screwed solid case back. On the case back is a depiction of a Manta Ray in relief; further symbolizing the affinity that this watch has for the aquatic realm.

The dial on both versions is black. However, on the orange strap edition the chronograph subdials are ringed with orange accents. The hour markers on both models are in large Arabic numerals. Both the markers and the hands are generously coated with lume for exceptional visibility on the dial under any light conditions. One of the defining points of the hour markers is its usage of the numeral 0 at the 12 position.

At the 9 position is the continuous seconds counter, while at the 6 and 3 positions are totalizers displaying the chrono minutes and chrono hours. The chronograph seconds are indicated through a central sweeping seconds hand. The date aperture is located at the 4:30 position on this watch. Powering this tremendous timepiece is the Swiss made automatic caliber H-31.
