Ebel Wave Lady Double Wrap

Ebel has, since its inception in 1911, strove to manufacture watches where the design was as clever and stunning as their watches were practical. Ebel was started by husband and team Eugene Blum and Alice Levy, hence Ebel is an acronym for Eugene Blum Et Levy. Though Ebel watches have always stood their ground, there is a sense that this superb Swiss watchmaker has somewhat been underestimated. The release of the Ebel Wave Lady Double Wrap in Basel 2011 has changed that a bit and Ebel has found itself back in the spotlight again.

The collection features 5 versions each with aesthetic differences. The watches come in stainless steel and bimetal options, with either a leather strap or a steel/bimetal bracelet. The case is made to fit most women with its 27.3mm case diameter. As with most Ebel watches, these Double Wrap Wave Lady watches are flat and contour the wrist with a 6.1mm case height. Around the bezel are five screws which add a sporty, utilitarian feel to these watches. The bezel also holds in place a scratch resistant sapphire crystal which protects the dial.

This watch is powered by a precise ETA movement Calibre 256.031 which is manufactured in Switzerland. Quartz is chosen for this piece to facilitate the slim case. The dial is made with mother of pearl and features a single Arabic numeral at the 6 position. At the 12 o’clock position is the mirrored ‘E’ logo of Ebel. There are also two applied silver toned indexes at 9 and 3 giving the dial a measure of balance.

The bracelets on these fine timepieces are alternately brushed and polished in the design of the wave that has made this watch an unforgettable part of horological history. The leather straps are fitted with a tang type buckle for quick and easy adjustments. The Ebel Wave Lady Double Wrap models are all water resistant to 50 meters.
