Breitling Chronomat 44 Raven

The renowned Chronomat has been one of the bestselling Breitling models ever since 1941, which is when the first Breitling Chronomat was manufactured and sold. With Chronomat model, Breitling offered an important innovation – the circular slide rule, which was designed for use in combination with a chronograph. Ever since the 1940’s, the Chronomat has been produced in many different versions and from a great deal of materials. The model was discontinued in 1978, and revamped again in 1984, but in a completely new suite – designed for aviators!

The historical pilot’s chronograph from 1984 is today considered a harbinger of all modern Chronomats, which emanate a distinctive “professional vibe” that reflects in their precision, toughness, legibility and functionality. This year, the famous Chronomat celebrates its 30^th birthday and welcomes the new Chronomat 44 Raven model.

The exceptional Chronomat, a watch dedicated to performance, is now issued in a completely fresh and new version that, more than ever, highlights its technical, macho style. The special edition of the Chronomat is dubbed 44 Raven, and it comes in a black-colored case with vibrant orange highlights. The watch is crafted from stainless steel and sheathed in a high-resistance carbon-based black coating. The diamond-like carbon is applied on steel to increase its natural level of resistance, especially against abrasive wear. In this case, it also contributes to the highly-technical all-black aesthetic.

The case is topped with a unidirectional rotating bezel that boasts vibrant orange rubber inlaid figures. The same lively shade appears on the tachymeter scale, which is printed on the inner side of the bezel; on the chronograph seconds hand, and on all counter pointers. In addition, Breitling has customized its oscillating weight so that it blends with the aesthetics of the Chronomat 44 Raven. Visible through the case-back exhibition window is a black oscillating weight with eye-catching orange highlights. The oscillating weight is a part of the self-winding COSC certified chronometer movement, Breitling 01, which beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour and provides more than 70 hours of power reserve. The watch delivers a 1/4th second chronograph function, 30-minutes counter at 3 o’clock, and 12 hours counter at 12 o’clock. Another practical indicator, a date window, is positioned between 4 and 5 o’clock.

Like all other professional-quality watches from Breitling, the new Chronomat 44 Raven is water resistant to 200 meters. The model is offered with Onyx Black dial and it comes in two styles for the strap: either rubber Diver Pro or Ocean Racer. The Breitling Chronomat 44 Raven is priced at $9,825.
