Baume & Mercier Shows Its Class With The Clifton 10057

Baume & Mercier go back to their roots with this superb timepiece Ref. 10057 from the Clifton collection. This watch is directly inspired by a watch that the company made back in the 1950’s. The Baume & Mercier Clifton 10057 irrefutably places Baume & Mercier in an elite category with its exceptional watchmaking prowess.

The Clifton 10057 is made from solid stainless steel and carries case dimensions of 43mm for the diameter while sitting flat on the wrist of the wearer with a case thickness of just 12.25mm. The ridged main crown is of the push/pull variety allowing for quick adjustments to the time. The day, date, and moon phase are adjusted through correctors on the middle of the case.

The stationary bezel holds an anti-reflective sapphire crystal firmly in place. Sapphire crystal is the preferred choice for quality watch manufacturers as this material ranks a 9 on the MoH’s scale of hardness and can only be scratched by another sapphire or diamond.

Driving the Clifton 10057 is a Swiss made self-winding movement. This movement beats at a constant 28,800 Vph and carries a power reserve of 42 hours when fully wound. The movement is decorated with Cotes de Genève on the oscillating rotor and Cotes du Rhone on the main plate. For lubrication, this piece is fitted with 25 jewels. The movement is visible through an exhibition case back also made from sapphire crystal.

The dial is blue and is brushed sunray finished featuring rhodium colored Arabic numerals and indexes for the hour markers. The hours and minutes hands are dauphine shaped and are also rhodium colored. The date is indicated by a central hand differentiated from the central seconds hand by its red tip. The day and month are displayed through apertures at the 12 position. At 6 o’clock there is a moon phase aperture.

The 10057 is water resistant to 5 ATM (50 meters). Securing the watch is a black alligator strap fitted with a triple deployant clasp with a dual push button release system.
