The Alpina Alpiner Automatic Chronograph 41.5mm

The Alpina Automatic Chronograph 41.5mm from the Alpiner collection is one classy timepiece. This collection is clearly inspired by vintage watches all of which carry an aviation themed aesthetic. The Alpiner collection is one of the biggest from this brand and is also one of the most popular.

This particular model is crafted from stainless steel and as the name suggests comes with a case diameter of 41.5mm. Most contemporary aviation themed timepieces are over 45mm mark but the Alpiner Automatic Chronograph is sized to a more refined diameter.

This timepiece features a ridged main crown and ‘T’ styled chronograph pushers. The case back is solid and engraved with some of the specs of the watch. The watch employs a luxurious brown alligator leather strap with white contrast stitching for a sporty look. This gent’s Alpina watch is water resistant to 50 meters or 5 ATM.

The dial on this beauty is finely brushed in a domed sun ray pattern. The color of the dial complements the case very well with its matte finish. The hands and hour markers are all yellow gold toned, contrasting against the color of the dial for optimum readability of the time. The hands and hour markers are also luminous for legibility under low light conditions.

At the 9 position, there is a counter for the true seconds, whereas the 6 and 12 positions feature the chrono hours and minutes respectively. Sharing the 6 position is a small date aperture. On the flange is a telemeter – a complication that was used a lot in the First World War. A telemeter basically can gauge distance through the differential in the speeds of light and sound.

Powering this stunning timepiece is a self-winding chronograph caliber AL-750. This movement features a balance that oscillates at 28,800 VpH and carries 46 hours-worth in power reserve. The Alpina Alpiner Automatic Chronograph 41.5mm is backed by a 2 year international guarantee.
