Tag Heuer Outdoes Itself With The Mikrograph

There are so many fantastic features that set the Heuer Carrera Mikrograph 1/100 of a second chronograph apart from any other chronograph on the market. Indeed, TAG has outdone itself with this timepiece. The Mikrograph is made from precious 18kt rose gold. Rose gold is chosen not just because the color is very flattering on skin tones but mainly because rose gold is the hardest alloy of gold available. This watch is made even more exclusive by the fact that it is a numbered limited edition of 150 pieces.

The case of the Mikrograph measures 43mm in diameter, with the case back featuring the movement via an exhibition sapphire case back. The movement carries an engraved oscillating weight and the limited number of the pieces – XX/150.

This exceptional movement also features a state-of-the-art bidirectional winding system, which is ratcheted ensuring this watch is kept well charged. This model has a standard power reserve of 42 hours. The Mikrograph’s movement has two distinct barrels and balance wheels – one each for the main timekeeping functions and the other for the chronograph. The chronograph also has its own power reserve which stands at 90 minutes before it needs winding through the main crown.

The balance wheels each vibrate at different frequencies – 28,800 for the watch, and 360,000 for the chronograph. It is because of the extraordinarily high vibrations for the chronograph that it can be so precise with its groundbreaking 1/100 of a second recording. Naturally for a movement with so many moving parts, TAG Heuer puts 62 jewels into it making sure that this watch stays well lubricated.

The brown and cream display of this watch goes well with the case material. The chronograph seconds hand is made from blued stainless steel; while the minute, hour, and true seconds hand are 18kt rose gold and are luminous enhancing night time legibility. The other chronograph indicators, as well as, the chronograph power reserve indicator are all silver toned for ease in reading this watch. Completing the dial is a date aperture at the 6 o’clock position. Setting this piece apart, is the monochrome vintage Heuer logo which makes this watch an immediate collectible for TAG Heuer aficionados.

As with all watches from TAG Heuer, the Mikrograph uses double antireflective curved sapphire crystal for its dial window. A brown hand sewn alligator strap is equipped with a rose gold pin buckle adding to the sophistication of this handsome timepiece.
