Hautlence has only been around for since 2004 but already has set itself apart from the rest with its think-tank approach to horology. Hautlence is a clever anagram for Neuchatel – the city which this exciting brand calls home. Hautlence is one of the few watchmakers which makes their own movements and therefore guarantees that each and every watch leaving their state of the art workshops is of the highest possible quality.
The Destination 01 at first glance looks like it belongs in the museum of modern art with its magnificent dial display and perfect curves. Hautlence crafts this watch mainly from DLC coated finely brushed Grade 5 titanium (this is the same grade that is used for space travel, most brands only use Grade 2) and 18kt 5N Red gold. The titanium constitutes the middle case while the red gold makes up the bezel, horns, ridged main crown and screws.
The case back reveals the movement’s regulating organ which beats at a constant 28,800 vibrations per hour. Engraved on the case back are ‘Horlogerie Suisse’ and ‘Destination 01’ as well as time zone indications. The oscillating weight is decorated with circular Cotes de Genève. The movement in the Destination 01 is the Soprod 9351/A10-2 and has a power reserve of 42 hours.
The dial is opaline black and features a classic ‘Clous de Paris’ motif on the central dial. There is an intermediate sapphire crystal which holds the applied Arabic numerals making them seem to float. Hautlence is engraved on the large date bridge while the logo sits above in relief. The Destination 01 features a large double date window, and a subsidiary dual time dial located at the 6 o’clock position. This timepiece also carries a day/night indicator. The hands are coated with Superluminova designed to keep this watch legible at night.
This exceptional timepiece carries dimensions of 37mm x 43.5mm and a case thickness of 13mm. The strap is genuine black Louisiana alligator which has been hand sewn. An 18kt red gold pin buckle secures this watch to the wrist. This model is water resistant to 30 meters. The Destination 01 from Hautlence retails for 30,000 CHF at select boutiques worldwide.
