Few can argue that Vacheron Constantin is not just plain good at what they do. If there were any reservations, just one look at this fine specimen of Swiss watchmaking and those doubts should be calmly laid to rest. The Vacheron Constantin Patrimony Traditionelle 14 Day Tourbillon is one of those watches that is destined to become a grail watch just based on its enormous aesthetic appeal and the superlative savoir faire that went into its production.
This model is sculpted using 950 platinum, which has been Rhodiumed and polished to a gleaming finish. Vacheron Constantin sizes this case at 42mm, making it wearable on both large and more modest wrists. This stunning timepiece rides flat on the wrist with a case thickness of just 12.22mm. The prominent ridged main crown is also made from Platinum and bears the brand’s famous logo – the Maltese cross.
The case back is clear sapphire crystal exposing the in house manually wound caliber 2260 which is comprised of 231 individual parts and beats at a constant 18,000 vibrations per hour (2.5Hz). The most prolific aspect of this watch is its power reserve which stands at no less than 336 hours (14 days). This handsome watch carries the prestigious Hallmark of Geneva certification which is only available to the select watchmakers residing in Geneva.
The dial shows off the Tourbillon and small seconds combined in an aperture at 6 o’clock. The Tourbillon is easily recognizable as Vacheron Constantin due to the shape of the carriage which is in the form of the Maltese cross. At the 12 position lies the retrograde 14 day power reserve indicator. The dial is also made from Platinum brushed to a fine finish highlighting the other elements of this exquisite timepiece.
The strap is made from dark blue alligator leather from the species alligator mississippiensis. Securing the watch to the wrist is a 950 platinum double folding clasp. This model is water resistant to 30 meters (3 ATM). Naturally a watch of this caliber is made in numbered limited quantity, in this case, of only 50 pieces worldwide.
