The Ebel X-1 Is Curvy In Ceramic

Ebel has grown from being a small independent watchmaker into one of the world’s foremost designers of quality, forward thinking watches. This is evidenced, yet again, with the release of the X-1 earlier this year at Basel. Ebel, over the years, has started to focus more on style, but still with an eye on innovation, and through this has created a loyal following for their quality, well priced timepieces.

The X-1 from Ebel is crafted from both stainless steel and black ceramic with a case size of 34mm that is just large enough to be trendy yet small enough for daily wear. The black ceramic makes up the middle case and case back while the notched bidirectional bezel is made from stainless steel. Adorning the bezel are 48 VS full cut diamonds that are individually set and offer a Top Wesselton color range. Diamonds are also found on the dial for select hour markers and on the stainless steel push/pull crown making for a total carat weight of just over 72 points.

The dial is black and features oversized Arabic numerals at the 4, 8, and 12 positions. At 6 o’clock is a vaulted date display window. The inner dial is guilloche designed in concentric circles adding a touch of intricacy to this very chic lady’s watch. The rhodium colored hands taper inwards towards the tips and are coated with lume for optimal legibility during low light conditions.

Driving this watch is a quality Swiss made quartz movement which guarantees precision and reliability. The bracelet is also comprised of satin finished stainless steel and ceramic in interlocking links giving contrast and making for durability. Ceramic is well known for its scratch resistance and therefore this model is designed to keep its aesthetic appeal for a long time. Also highly scratch resistant is the sapphire crystal dial window. The Ebel X-1 is water resistant to 100 meters (10 ATM) and retails for USD $6500 worldwide.
