The Ebel Onde 30mm Shines Bright With Diamonds

Ebel like most brands has always had a strong sense of self and an identity which has always been geared towards producing timepieces of exceeding beauty and complexity. Ebel was founded in 1911 by the duo of Eugene Blum Et Levy which is an acronym for the name of the brand. The Onde collection is one of their newest releases coming out in November of 2012. This watch has been well received coming after other successful collections like the Brasilia, and the Sporty 1911 chronographs for men.

As the name suggests, the Onde 30mm is in fact 30mm at the diameter and lies flat on the wrist with a case thickness of a mere 9.32mm. This bimetal model uses both surgical stainless steel and 18 karat rose gold which serve to dress this watch up yet still making it a practical choice for daily wear. The 18 karat rose gold main crown is slightly longer than normal but this only makes room for the row of 14, 2 point diamonds which adorn this area of the watch. The bezel and dial are also diamond encrusted. The bezel carries 38 VS quality, Top Wesselton (F-G) sparkling diamonds with a total carat weight of 0.836ct.

As mentioned before, the dial is also set with diamonds; however, these are used for both decorative and functional purposes as the hour markers. Ebel uses rose gold toned indexes at the 3, 6, and 9 positions and the mirrored ‘E’ Ebel logo at 12 o’clock.  The hours, minutes, and seconds hands are diamond polished and then plated with rose gold which contrast nicely against the silver tone galvanic dial.

The Onde collection is powered by the Swiss quartz movement Cal. ETA 956.102. The bracelet on this timepiece is crafted only from stainless steel and is both brushed and polished. The bracelet is secured using a folding clasp. The Onde collection is manufactured to withstand 50 meters (5 ATM) of water pressure. This lady’s watch from Ebel retails for USD $7900 and is available worldwide.
