The Vulcain 50's President's Manual Wound

Vulcain has released another iteration of the 50’s Presidents. For those not familiar with Vulcain, the brand has been around since 1858 consistently producing complicated watches that have a strong aesthetic identity.

The watch that is featured here today is just one of two versions from this collection that carries diamonds. The other version with diamonds has a shiny brown dial. There are 80 diamonds in all around the thin bezel weighing 92 points in total. The diamonds are all VS2 clarity and Top Wesselton color, which corresponds to F-G on the widely accepted GIA scale.

The case measures in at 42mm for the case diameter and it features a prominent ridged crown that is used to set the time and date, and wind this timepiece. The case is fitted with an exhibition case back, which features the stylish ‘V’ on the movement. The pusher at the 2 position governs the alarm system. The burgundy leather strap used for this model matches the raspberry colored dial. This model also comes on a black alligator strap. The straps are secured with a stainless steel folding clasp equipped with a single push button release system. The water resistance on this sublime timepiece stands at 50 meters or 165 feet.

The dial features rhodium toned, luminous hands and indexes. The markers at the 3, 9, and 12 are rendered as Arabic numerals. along the rehaut is the alarm scale. The scale is divided into 20 second intervals for the alarm to chime. At the 6 position is the date display window. Protecting the dial elements is a scratch resistant sapphire crystal.

The movement featured on this watch is the Swiss made in-house caliber Cricket V-11 hand wound mechanical. This movement carries an autonomy of 42 hours and vibrates at a constant 18,000 VpH. The Vulcain 50’s President’s Manual also features a double barrel system and the coveted Exactomatic system.
