The U-Boat Chimera Day Date

Brand new from U-Boat is their very first watch that not only shows the date, but also spells out the day of the week. U-Boat has released this new model in the Chimera series in both stainless steel and in naturally aged bronze. The stainless steel model is especially gorgeous but the bronze edition is no aesthetic slouch either. Case dimensions come in at 46mm for the diameter, which offer exceptional wrist presence as is customary for U-Boat timepieces.

These watches also feature tubing, connecting the front and back cases. This can be unlocked only using a very special key. This ensures the best in water resistance for these timepieces. As with all U-Boat models, the Chimera Day Date features a lefty crown with a canteen styled crown guard, which also aids in the water resistance of this watch. This crown guard features the patented release system at 8 o’clock.

The leather used is worked using traditional Italian techniques. The leather strap on the bronze version features a fleur-de-lis symbol. The straps on each model are secured using a pin buckle clasp made from metal complementing the case. The U-Boat Chimera Day Date is limited in its production to just 300 examples for each version.

The dial for the bronze iteration is a dark, rich brown. The dial has been laser cut, and hand brushed. The center of the dial is hand painted using a bronze color, and is brushed once again. The stainless steel edition carries a black dial, which features sword shaped hands, coated with Super-LumiNova™ for nighttime readability. The dials only have three markers (12, 4, and 8 positions). The day of the week is spelled out in full between 10 and 11, while the date aperture is located at the conventional 3 position.

Powering this creation is a self-winding mechanical movement that features 25 jewels and beats at a standard 28,800 VpH.
