The New Fendi Crazy Carats Line For Baselworld 2014

Fendi is pretty new to the high end watch scene but their launch of the Crazy Carats collection has definitely placed them on the top rungs where sheer ingenuity is concerned. For Baselworld this year the iconic fashion brand is set to release 4 new additions to the Crazy Carats collection. Each of the new models will still keep the patented gemstone switching mechanism but this year will be placed on a two tone mink strap.

The new Crazy Carats will come in either a black or a white dial and will feature an optional rotation of 11 pink sapphires, 11 diamonds, and 11 blue sapphires. At the 12 position is a stationary diamond that remains constant. The gemstones are rotated by a twist of the crown at the 3:30 position. At the 9:30 position is the crown that is used to adjust the time. The central dial carries a gorgeous guilloche design in a sunrays motif. The hands are rhodium toned and beveled nicely in a dauphine shape.

The 38mm case is made from polished stainless steel with a fixed bezel that is adorned with diamonds totaling just under ¾ of a carat. The diamonds used are all round brilliant. On the crown, there is a cabochon cut diamond, which weighs approximately 29 points. The bracelets come in dark grey and yellow, and blue and red versions. The mink is affixed to a genuine crocodile leather strap. Sapphire crystal protects the dial and is chosen due to its highly scratch resistant properties. The Fendi Crazy Carats line is water resistant to 30 meters.

Powering this model is a quartz movement made entirely in Switzerland. There are in total 4 versions to the Fendi Crazy Carats line and each is limited in production to just 50 pieces each.
