The Hublot King Power Oceanographic 4000

The Oceanographic 4000 hails from the King Power series. It was produced in collaboration with the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco. This watch is the first and only watch that is protected against 4000 meters (13,120 feet) of water pressure. In fact, the watch was tested to 5000 meters in a Roxer tank where the seal held against the daunting pressure.

This is the first time that the Museum has agreed to be partnered with a watch. Hublot, since honoring the institute, now makes a monetary contribution to the work and surveys carried out by the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco. The Hublot King Power Oceanographic 4000 will be produced in a limited series of just 1000 numbered pieces in Titanium, and 500 pieces in Carbon Fiber worldwide.

As stated before, the case is manufactured from Grade II titanium or Carbon Fiber, and carries dimensions of an imposing 48mm. The King Power Oceanographic features a helium release valve, which allows built up gases to escape before they can damage the internal workings of the watch. Helium naturally builds up in a watch during prolonged dive sessions. The valve is made stainless steel and can be seen at the 10 o’clock position.

The case also features the iconic ‘H’ screws on the bezel, which are made from black PVD titanium. The crown at the 2 position is used to operate the internal unidirectional rotating bezel. This method is much safer than the traditional external bezel. The bezel crown locks into position with an oversized crown guard. The crown at the 4 position is screw locked and is in charge of adjusting the time and the date. The sapphire crystal on this model is an astounding 5.5mm thick and is glare proofed on both sides.

Powering this watch is the accurate Swiss made caliber HUB1401 self-winding mechanical movement. The 180 components movement features a regular power reserve of 46 hours. The dial features large luminous hour markers and hands, which make for excellent legibility while under water. At the 3 position is a neat date aperture for quick referencing. This model features a 2 year international guarantee and retails for USD $19,900 for the titanium and USD $25,900 for the carbon fiber.
