On the heels of one of Hublot’s greatest design masterpieces – the Hublot Lady’s Big Bang Jeans, comes a watch that is making waves all across the watchmaking landscape. This year at SIHH, Hublot has unveiled the Big Bang Jeans for men. This model comes in black, matte finished ceramic, which was chosen due to this materials hard-wearing properties like its superior strength to stainless steel, and its lighter than steel, easy wearing nature. This represents a significant change to the original version for ladies, which came in polished and brushed stainless steel.
The watch carries many of the Big Bang’s design elements like the 6 ‘H’ shaped screws, the bezel lugs in black resin, and its oversized case. As the name suggests, the case measures in at 44mm, which is around the usual size of watches from the Big Bang collection. What sets this watch apart is not its case size or even the material used but the strap which is made from Denim material, making for the ultimate weekend watch. The dark denim strap features contrast gold stitching, which notably matches authentic, vintage dark denim jeans. Together, the case and strap look amazing with their dark hues.
Hublot also makes the dial with denim material but to accomplish this they had to harden it. The partially skeletonized hand and indexes are luminous and rhodium toned, making for excellent contrast against the dark dial. At the 9 position is a small seconds counter, while the totalizers at 6 and 9 indicate the chronograph hours and minutes respectively. The chrono seconds are displayed by a central hand with the Hublot logo for a counterweight. A date aperture can be found at the 4:30 position.
Powering the watch is a self-winding mechanical HUB4100. This movement carries a power reserve of 42 hours and vibrates at a consistent 28,800 VpH. This Hublot watch is water resistant to 100 meters (10 ATM) and is limited in its production to 250 numbered pieces.
