The Cartier Tank Solo Extra Large

Cartier has added a new addition to the Tank Solo collection. This new addition comes in the form of an automatic model to this series that was strictly comprised of watches fitted with quartz movements. The Cartier Tank Solo Extra Large was released last year and has been doing extremely well due to its larger size and mid-range price point.

The Cartier Tank Solo Extra Large is manufactured in hypoallergenic, stainless steel crafted from a single block of steel. The case body is both polished and satin finished, which is brand new in the design of the Tank Solo collection. Prior to this watch all of the Tank Solo watches were polished. The bracelet also is brushed and polished and ends in a double deployant hidden clasp.

The rectangular case measures in at 31mm across X 40.85mm in length. Though this is an automatic watch, the case height stands at a very flat 7.65mm. This is truly incredible as most automatic watches carry at least a 10mm case height. Cartier maintains the Tank Solo’s classy aesthetics even with the larger case dimensions. The main crown is textured and carries the iconic blue cabochon spinel that has become a staple of Cartier watchmaking.

The dial on this watch is classic Cartier with the Roman numeral hour markers and printed railroad style minute track. The hands are sword shaped and are made from blued steel, which is very corrosion resistant and anti-magnetic. Found in the Roman numeral seven is Cartier’s hidden inscription, made to hinder counterfeiters. At the 6 position, there is a date aperture in place of the hour marker.

Powering this timepiece is the Cartier calibre 049, which has been used in many of this Swiss watchmaker’s creations. The Cartier Tank Solo Extra Large is water resistant to 30 meters (100 feet) and is backed by a 2 year manufacturer’s guarantee.
