The Ball Engineer Master II Pilot GMT

Sleek, sophisticated, and timeless are but a few words that can easily describe the new Ball Engineer Master II Pilot GMT watch. This Swiss timepiece boasts rugged aesthetics but clean lines, and an effortless functionality that sets this model apart.

These watches come on either a brushed and polished stainless steel bracelet, or a black crocodile leather strap, which is highlighted by bright red contrast stitching that underscores the vintage feel of the watch, while still maintaining a sporty feel. Either bracelet option works well with this timepiece. As always, personal preference dictates which is best. The case measures a respectable 43.5 mm wide and 11.9 mm thick, which guarantees the right amount of wrist presence.

The bidirectional bezel is crafted from aluminum and is a glossy black and stamped with luminous Arabic numerals, which are used to indicate the second time zone. The GMT hand is set using the knurled, screw down crown, as is also the date and local time. The case itself is a polished stainless steel with a solid case back.

The most unique aspect of the Master II Pilot GMT is the dial, hands down. The design of the dial lends itself well to excellent legibility during low light conditions. As with all Ball watches, the oversized Arabic numeral hour markers and indexes are luminescent, thanks to 25 micro tubes of tritium gas. These tubes are luminous without any exterior light or energy source; additionally, each index marker is set into the dial to create a flush surface.

The rest of the dial has a textured black finish; the central dial is etched with a depiction of the line of latitude and longitude, while the outer ring features a lightly pebbled look. A date complication appears at 3 o’clock on this watch. Each sword shaped hand houses another tube of tritium, yellow this time, while the GMT hand is a deep red color and highlighted using lume. The sweeping second hand features a counterbalance of the Ball watches logo. An anti-reflective, sapphire crystal protects the dial, offering superior scratch resistance.

Inside this model is a self-winding mechanical movement caliber Ball RR1201. The Master II Pilot GMT from Ball is rated water resistant up to 100 meters, perfect for daily wear.
