The Romain Jerome 1969 Collection

Romain Jerome has been busy this year with new releases coming out both before and during SIHH, which was held early this year. The Romain Jerome 1969 Collection is powerful beyond measure with its strong, unique aesthetics and downright bold take on Haute Horlogerie. This 1969 line is actually four new additions to the Moon DNA collection.

Each of these 4 watches is crafted from stainless steel, satin finished to complement the general theme of the watches. The only exception to this is the brown silicon dial watch, which features a black PVD stainless steel case. These 4 extraordinary models all have a 43mm case diameter, noted as a great width for many varying wrist sizes.

The first model features a dial that is fashioned from a meteorite that probably originated from the asteroid belt that is located between Mars and Jupiter. The meteorite coincidentally crashed into earth the same as we sent our astronauts to the moon – 1969. On its case back is a depiction of the moon and its limited edition number (XX/99). One of the distinguishing features of this watch is the addition of 4 claws that extend from the single-tier bezel over the sapphire crystal dial window.

The other three watches from this collection carry dials made from Silicium more commonly known as Silicon. Silicon makes up a great deal of the earth’s crust and is known as an excellent semi-conductor. They come in three distinct colors – blue, grey, and brown. Romain Jerome attains these colors through a special PVD process.

On all of the watches, there is a small seconds counter at 9 o’clock. This counter is designed to be reminiscent of the visor used by the astronauts to guide the LEM to the surface of the moon. The luminous indexes are raised, while the hands feature a cutout design with arrowhead tips. All of the dial elements are coated with Super-LumiNova® for legibility of the time at night.
