Raymond Weil's Maestro Goes For Gold

The Maestro from Raymond Weil is a stunning example of their watchmaking prowess. Just released this year, the Maestro has already positioned itself as a bestseller. The case is crafted from 18k yellow gold and finished to perfection. The double tiered bezel holds securely the scratch resistant sapphire crystal which has been glare proofed.

As with most dress watches, the Maestro uses an exhibition case back to evince the Swiss automatic movement which works by the movement of the wrist which, in turn, causes a rotor wheel to rotate winding the main spring. The Maestro can also be manually wound to power the watch’s timekeeping functions. When fully charged, the watch has a power reserve of 42 hours. The case back snaps into place allowing for easy maintenance.

The case measures a very conservative 39.5mm in diameter (inclusive of the crown) and sits flat on the wrist with a case height of just 7.65mm. The push/pull styled main crown is ridged for the easy adjustments of both the date and time.

The dial on the Maestro is clean looking and offers readability at a glance. It is clear that Raymond Weil went out of its way to create the definition of a dress watch with this model. The dial is silver and is contrasted by the 18k yellow gold hands and applied Arabic numeral hour markers. The one exception in the color scheme is the blued steel seconds hand that sweeps smoothly around the dial. The one thing that is noticeably lacking in this watch is any lume. The date aperture on this model is located at the 3 o’clock position. Completing the dial is a measured minute track.

The Maestro employs a black alligator strap with saddle stitching. Securing the strap is a traditional tang type buckle also forged in 18k gold. This timepiece from Raymond Weil is manufactured to withstand 50 meters (165 feet) of water pressure. This really means that the watch is suitable for hand washing and maybe showering. However, because of the leather strap it is advisable to forego any contact with water.

This watch retails at USD$8500 and comes with an international two year guarantee.
