As yet another model from the Abyss Discoverer collection, this chronograph model appeases the fans of the brand that favor a more rugged approach to the craft of watchmaking. One of the coolest features of this timepiece is the swiveling lugs that ensure a perfect fit on the wrist, whether large or small. This is achieved through large pinions attached to the case and simultaneously holding the black alligator leather strap. This strap is secured with a personalized Hysek fold over clasp. This model also comes on a black or a blue leather strap with a titanium ‘H’ insert.
The case is made from grade II titanium, which accentuates its sporty aesthetic due to its brushed finish. Another great feature on this model is the prominent textured main crown and the crown guard that protects it on either side. The chronograph pushers are made from black PVD stainless steel for excellent contrast. As the name suggests, the case measures in at 44mm and raises 14mm off of the wrist. The case back is solid and screwed in aiding in the 30 meter water resistance.
Protecting the dial is a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment. Sapphire crystal is chosen because of its superlative scratch resistant properties. The dial is colored black with white ringed chronograph totalizers at the 6 and 12 positions. At the 9 o’clock position is the continuous seconds counter, while opposite at 3 is a neat date aperture. The Arabic numerals at 11,1, 5, and 7; and the hands are coated with Super-LumiNova for enhanced readability in low light conditions.
Driving this functional watch from Hysek is a self-winding movement made in Switzerland. This model carries a power reserve of 42 hours. The caliber vibrates at 28,800 alternations per hour. The Hysek Abyss 44mm Chronograph’s price is available upon request.
