The Orefici Vintage Gladiatore Chronograph is one of the newer releases from this esteemed Italian brand. Since its release late last year, the Orefici Vintage Gladiatore Chronograph has been making waves on the watch scene with its careful mix of vintage and sporty aesthetics. The Orefici brand can trace its history all the way back to 1933, where the family began as goldsmiths. In fact, the name Orefici honors the grandfather of the founder who was an orifice, which is Italian for goldsmith.
In the tradition of many Italian manufacturers, Orefici makes many of their watches with oversized dimensions – the Vintage Gladiator Chronograph is no exception. This timepiece is made with 48mm case diameter and is crafted from stainless steel. The case carries a trendy octagonal case shape, which enhances the sporty look.
Orefici employs three different polishing processes ensuring that this piece is as perfect as aesthetically possible. On the crown guard are specially marked screws with a ‘+’ motif. The black chronograph pushers are ingeniously integrated into the case for a truly seamless design. The solid case back features both the serial number and the Orefici logo cleanly engraved. The Vintage Gladiatore Chronograph is water resistant to 100 meters (330 feet).
The dial is white with luminous, black steel, partially skeletonized hands indicating the hours and minutes. Contrasting indexes mark the hours, while the minute markers can be found on the flange.
Unique to this design is the bicolored flange, which features a black area from the 2 to the 7 position. These are marked by black steel extensions that taper into the 24 hour counter at 3, and the continuous seconds counter at 6. At the 9 position is located the chronograph minutes subdial, while the chrono seconds is indicated by a central hand that has been tipped in red.
The central dial carries an attractive honeycomb cutout design that allows the wearer to glimpse the accurate Japanese made Miyota quartz movement, which powers this watch. Completing the dial is a date aperture at the 4:30 position. Covering the dial is a K1 mineral crystal which is coated with sapphire for defense against scratching. This crystal is also treated with an anti-reflective coating ensuring perfect legibility of the time and the chronograph.
The leather strap is fashioned from brown suede and it is hand stitched. This is reflected in the inscription ‘Hand Made in Italy’, which can be read on the reverse side. Securing the strap is an oversized buckle made also from stainless steel. The Orefici Vintage Gladiatore Chronograph is guaranteed internationally for 2 years from the date of purchase.
