Hermès takes inspiration from one of the U.S.’ favorite vacation spots – Cape Cod for this timepiece. Hermès has been doing well with their watches due to their unique designs and solid workmanship. The Cape Cod stands as a great example of the detailing that Hermès is famous for.
The Hermès Cape Cod is crafted from solid, hypoallergenic stainless steel, which has been both polished and satin finished creating depth to the timepiece. The watch measures in at a relatively medium sized 36.5 X 35.4mm for the length and width of the watch (not inclusive of the lugs).
The lugs are classically styled in loops holding the grey large square scaled alligator strap in place. The leather strap is secured with a single folding clasp, which uses a pin buckle system made of stainless steel. The clasp is inscribed with ‘Hermès’ in capitals. A ridged main crown makes for the effortless modification of both the time and date. This timepiece features the Hermès crest in relief on the case back.
The dial is grey which complements the leather strap. The dial also features a central guilloche design which is surrounded by a railroad themed minute track. The applied Arabic numeral hour markers are rhodium toned and are quite prominent adding to the overall sophistication of the Cape Cod. The hour and minute hands are coated with luminescence which makes reading the time at night a cakewalk. At the 3 position is a neat date aperture for quick referencing.
Powering this classy piece is a self-winding mechanical movement which is made in Switzerland. This automatic movement carries a power reserve of just under two days. The Cape Cod from Hermès is made to withstand up to 50 meters or 5 ATM of water pressure.
