Century's Dragon Stone Sparkles

There is beauty and then there is the Dragon Stone watch from Century with which there aren’t enough superlatives to describe. Century has once again raised the bar on watchmaking with the release of this haute joaillerie piece.

Century fashions their timepieces from hand cut 36 faceted sapphires which the founder H. U. Klingenberg developed in 1967 just one year after the company was founded. Century remains as independent company and is still in the hands of the founding family with H. U. Klingenberg’s son Philip at the helm of this truly amazing watch manufacturer.

The Dragon Stone features a dodecagonal case made entirely from sapphire which is the second hardest mineral on earth after diamond. The case carries dimensions of 24mm in diameter and 6mm for the case thickness. The bracelet and the case back are both constructed from 18kt white gold. The main crown on this model is small and fits in neatly in the sapphire case. The artisans at Century use the ‘Megalith’ technique which fuses two sapphires together to produce the case which is water resistant ot a depth of 100 meters.

The dial is pave set with both pink and white diamonds. The hands are modified beveled dauphine shaped and are rhodiumed offering legibility against the supreme sparkle of the diamond encrusted dial. The brand’s name – ‘Century’ is located at the 12 position in black applied lettering.

The bracelet on this watch is also adorned with both pink and white diamonds. The diamonds are each individually set and offer Top Wesselton color grades for the white diamonds and Fancy Vivid color grades for the pink diamonds. In all, there are 357 white diamonds with a total carat weight of 1.84ct; and 348 pink diamonds with a total carat weight of 2.96ct. Securing the bracelet to the wrist is a double deployant clasp. Driving this spectacular watch is an accurate and reliable Swiss made ETA quartz movement Caliber 280.002.
